Submit a recipe
How would you like to submit your recipe?
Submit a recipe
Paste the recipe text below. Ingredients, method, timings, servings โ whatever you can grab. PlateDate will tidy it up in the background and turn it into something that works in the app.
Links are less reliable. Some sites block scraping or hide the recipe content, so pasted text works best.
Upload a recipe photo
One recipe per upload. If it spans two pages or screenshots, add both โ that's the only reason 2 images are allowed. JPEG, PNG, or WebP โ up to 10 MB each.

PlateDate is a mealโplanning app operated by an individual sole trader based in the United Kingdom. These pages explain how we handle your data and the terms on which you use the app.

1. Who we are
PlateDate ("PlateDate", "we", "us") is a mealโplanning and recipe app operated by an individual sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the "data controller" for the personal data described here. You can reach us at hello@platedate.date.
2. What data we collect
We collect only what we need to run the app:
- Account details โ your email address (used for passwordless signโin), your display name and your chosen profile emoji.
- Preferences โ allergen and dietary filters, serving sizes and similar planning settings.
- Usage & content โ recipes you swipe on (like/reject), meal plans, saved recipes, shopping lists, and any recipes you submit โ including photos you upload or recipes you send in by email.
- Partner connections โ if you connect a cooking partner via a PIN, we link your accounts so you can plan together and see each other's meal decisions.
- Payment references โ if you subscribe to PlateDate Plus, our payment provider (Stripe) handles your card details. We only store references such as your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and your subscription status โ we never see or store your full card number.
3. How and why we use it
We use your data to provide and operate the app (create your account, build and save meal plans, generate shopping lists, process submitted recipes, enable partner mode), to send you service emails, to take payment for PlateDate Plus, and to keep the app secure and improve it. Our lawful bases are:
- Performance of a contract โ to give you the service you sign up for, including subscriptions.
- Legitimate interests โ to keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and understand aggregate usage.
- Consent โ where required, e.g. for optional emails; you can withdraw consent at any time.
4. Service providers who process your data
We share data with a small number of trusted providers who process it on our behalf:
- Supabase โ database, authentication, file storage and hosting of your app data.
- Stripe โ subscription payments and billing.
- OpenAI โ automated processing of recipe text and uploaded recipe images (e.g. reading a recipe from a photo, tidying shopping lists). Recipe content you submit may be sent to OpenAI for this purpose.
- Brevo โ sending transactional emails (welcome, partner invites, plan reminders, recipe status, mealโplan PDFs).
- Cloudflare โ hosting and cookieless, privacyโfriendly analytics.
- jsDelivr / cdnjs โ content delivery networks that serve some app code (e.g. the database client and PDF export libraries).
We do not sell your personal data, and we don't use it for thirdโparty advertising.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers (such as Stripe and OpenAI) are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent standard contractual clauses).
6. How long we keep it
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase your data as described below. We may keep limited records where we're legally required to (for example, payment records for tax purposes).
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to: access your data; correct inaccurate data; erase your data; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email hello@platedate.date. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile โ Settings). This permanently erases your profile, history, saved recipes, plans and partner connections across our systems, and cancels any active Stripe subscription, in line with your right to erasure.
9. Cookies & local storage
We don't use tracking or advertising cookies. To make the app work, we store an authentication session and a few functional preferences in your browser's local storage. Our analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) are cookieless.
10. Children
PlateDate is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we'll remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
12. Contact
For any privacy question or request, email hello@platedate.date.

1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using PlateDate, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. You must be at least 16 years old to use PlateDate.
2. The service
PlateDate is a mealโplanning app. It lets you discover and swipe on recipes, save them, build weekly meal plans, generate shopping lists, submit your own recipes, and โ with Partner Mode โ plan meals together with another user. Features may change, improve or be removed over time.
3. Your account
Signโin is passwordless: we email you a oneโtime code or link. You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure and for activity that happens under your account. Let us know promptly if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.
4. PlateDate Plus subscription
PlateDate Plus is an optional paid plan that unlocks extra features. It's a rolling subscription โ you pay in advance and can cancel any time, and your access continues until the end of the paid period. Payments are handled securely by Stripe, and you can manage or cancel your subscription through the Stripe customer portal linked in the app. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments for a period already started are nonโrefundable.
5. Recipes you submit
When you submit a recipe or upload a recipe photo, you confirm you have the right to share it, and you grant us a licence to store, process and display it so we can provide the service. Submitted content may be processed automatically by AI (see the Privacy Policy) and, if you use Partner Mode, shared with your connected partner. Don't submit content that is unlawful, infringing, offensive or that you don't have permission to share.
6. Acceptable use
Please use PlateDate lawfully and reasonably. Don't attempt to break, overload, reverseโengineer or gain unauthorised access to the app or other users' data, and don't use it to harass others or to upload harmful content. Our Acceptable Use & Community Guidelines set out the rules in full and form part of these Terms.
7. Food, allergen & nutrition disclaimer
Recipe, ingredient and allergen information in PlateDate is for general guidance only and may be incomplete or inaccurate โ including content generated or processed automatically. Always check ingredients and packaging yourself, and take your own precautions for allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements. PlateDate does not provide medical, dietary or nutritional advice; consult a qualified professional where needed.
8. Intellectual property
PlateDate, its branding and the app itself are owned by us. These Terms don't transfer any of our intellectual property to you. You keep ownership of the recipes and content you submit, subject to the licence in section 5.
9. Thirdโparty services
PlateDate relies on thirdโparty providers (such as Supabase, Stripe, OpenAI, Brevo and Cloudflare). Your use of features that depend on them may also be subject to their terms, and we're not responsible for their services.
10. Availability & liability
We work to keep PlateDate available and reliable, but we provide it "as is" and can't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or errorโfree. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on recipe or allergen information. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
11. Termination
You can stop using PlateDate and delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or misuse the service.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use PlateDate after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
